Here are some favorite artists. Most are quite rare recordings or performances -- hopefully, some excerpts you have not heard before. Feel free to share your comments on these artists.
I have a great admiration for Eileen Farrell, Nan Merriman, Lois Marshall, Maureen Forrester, Peter Pears, Léopold Simoneau, Hermann Prey, and Benjamin Luxon, among others. It is a rare gift to be a good recitalist and these artists are that and so much more!
Every attempt has been made to not violate any audio or visual copyrights. I have deleted more than half of the files uploaded to try and be observant of all copyright issues. If there is any file that is questionable please tell me and I will gladly delete it.
For many years I have been involved in the art of ikebana - Japanese flower arrangement. As you can see, my arrangements fall into a modern free-style. I hope you become acquainted with this great art form and lifestyle.

Phyllis Curtin has a perfect voice for this - harsh and bright.
Must be bring out on BluRay !!!
Very underrated violinist. Beautiful!
This isn’t live 😂
Thank you for posting this. This is one of my favorite works, and one of barber’s best.
This is no.1, not no.3!
E>inmalig
This is pure vocal beauty, lyric perfection and technique on display! Brava!
So schön gesungen!
Wonderful 💐💐💐 Thank you 😊
Wonderful performance. Especially allowing the music and texts to explain themselves-no playing to the audience.🎉
She's so beautiful great singers alas we won't see ther likecagain😢
This is one of my favourite videos on youtube <3
❤❤❤
Is this an acoustic recording??? Wasn't electrical recording invented in 1924?
The Nocturne is Barber's finest song and the orchestration should be better known.
7:23 She was smooth with a very comfortable voice to listen to. I saw her in person with the Artie Shaw Orchestra. This was an outside venue in a park. When she sang “Tenderly “ it was magical.
As a performer of Schaunard and a huge fan of Thomas Allen, I thank you for this!
This is the only extant performance of Adam's famous Cantique de Noël sung by Farrell that I know of. She didn't include it on her Christmas album. I'm glad to finally hear her sing it and so beautifully too!
Thanks for sharing this!
Alfred Deller, Divino!
La Farrell was 60 at this time, but her voice is that of someone half that age. How did she do it?
So beautiful!
Heather Harper who sang Alto in various ensembles at the start of her career, but took wing and developed her voice as one of the world's finest sopranos.
Thank you for sharing this recording with a truly wonderful cast . They find the expression in the text and the many beautiful musical elements in the score , as do the orchetra , choir and conductor. Above all we have the wonderful voice and sensitivity of Jill Gomez as Blanche.
This what Eileen Farrell was born to sing: American music. In a sea of choices this remains my own favorite. This and popular songs were made for her and they for her. In case anyone wonders why her opera career on stage was short, I think at the end of the day it was not what she did best when so many others were better on stage than she.
Thankyou so much for this lovely show music. I helped out at my local operatic society about 1960 and so loved their production. Difficult to find this music now. Thankyou once again.
Big operatic and beautifully rich voices like Martina's ability to sing lighter repertoire from lieder and certainly these two songs by Nin, for me is gigantic. Over singing by big voices lead to disaster. I so appreciate and love what Martina always did in her singing and won the battle between big and small. We love you Martina.
Searching Muriel Smith and came across this gem.
A crying shame that Deutsche Grammophon will never reissue this recording, so this will have to do for now. I hope one day to eat my words, but I'm not counting on it.
A moving performance by this great and all but forgotten singer. According to the Concertgebouw Concert Archive, the date of this performance is June 17, 1960.
So beautiful
Happy Juneteenth!
Wow.
A sumptuous voice! Firm and resonant.
How can leotyne price sing high C and only have three &1/2 octaves? It doesn’t make sense.
Glorious! As always, perfection!
Beautiful
MARVELOUS!!! 🙏🎶😇🕊️
I's a pity you say nothing about this piece. Moreover, no tracklist !
You are free to write anything you wish about the piece and include tracklist with timings. I thought I was being quite generous in offering this to the public.
@@kadoguy Indeed you are quite generous in offering this to the public, and I feel grateful to you for this. Thank you very much indeed. A tracklist with the timings is just something convenient. And as a music lover I am always happy to have information about the pieces I am listening to, and for lack of time it is not always easy to get at the information we'd like to rely on.
This is a treasure. Thanks for sharing it!
There is a warmth to his singing that often moves me to tears.
Still one of my very favourite recitalists. Wonderful Gerard Souzay.
I remember her singing Nozze di Figaro but where is she now? Still singing I hope. Gorgeous
Still singing, though it’s plus a quarter century so obviously the voice is not in pristine condition as here…
She recently sang Isolde.
Splendid duo. Thank you for sharing ... 💎
Great organist
El audio es pésimo!! Va lento 😖
"Now there are nine pipers playing, and CHRIST do they play!"
I love the alto soloist towards the end.
Спасибо !!! Замечательное исполнение !!! Чудесная певица. !!!
